We really like meetings and trips to exchange experiences. They not only open up new horizons and opportunities, they provide answers to the unclear questions "How?", "Where to start?" etc., but also powerfully recharges and inspires. Such was also the meeting with Ivars Balodis, a member of the board of the association Apeirons.
Association Apeirons is a public organization that includes both people with disabilities and their friends. The aim of the association is the integration of people with disabilities into society. The organization was founded in 1997.
Today, after 25 years, Apeirons is the most recognizable and influential organization representing people with disabilities in Latvia. Therefore, when writing the project "TOGETHER at the next level" we thought strategically and included 2 experience exchange meetings with the association Apeirons as one of the project activities. In our case, it can`t be called an exchange of experience, because we asked. 😄 And we had a lot of questions - about the organizational structure of the Apeirons association, about financial flow, about projects, about services, about attracting donations, about strategy... It was a very valuable conversation, because during the meeting we not only learned, thought, were inspired, understood, but we also felt Ivar's interest, support, honesty, humor, extensive experience and knowledge.
The most important thing we took away from this meeting? Create at least 30% succession in each project by building the capacity of the association with equipment or activities. Write projects strategically. 😉
And in feelings, it seems we have got a godfather! 😊 We look forward to the next meeting...
